Can Everton extend David Moyes’ wretched Blues record?

Everton take on West Ham United in the Blues’ final Premier League match of the campaign and will be reunited once more with former manager David Moyes.

Moyes, who was in charge of the Toffees between 2002 and 2013 has enjoyed little luck against his former side since he originally departed to join Manchester United five years ago.

After an unsuccessful stint at United, the Scot has had spells at Sunderland, Real Sociedad and now West Ham.

Since leaving, Moyes has faced up against Everton a total of five times- and it’s safe to say that things have not gone well for the former Blues boss in these matches.

The 55-year-old manager has lost all five of these meetings and has an aggregate score of 12-0.

His first fixture up against the Toffees came at Old Trafford in December 2013, as Roberto Martinez’s side ran out 1-0 victors thanks to a solitary Bryan Oviedo goal.

In the reverse fixture that season at Goodison Park, the Blues completed a league double over the Red Devils with a comfortable 2-0 triumph to increase hope of top-four finish.

Moyes was sacked just two days after this match and would next face Everton as Sunderland manager- where his luck didn’t improve.

A 3-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light in Moyes’ fourth league game in charge of the Black Cats was not the start he would have hoped for. Romelu Lukaku bagged a hat-trick as the Toffees secured a comfortable win in September 2016.

There was to be no happy return to Goodison for a second time as Ronald Koeman’s men defeated Sunderland 2-0. But the disappointment didn’t end there.

Moyes was appointed West Ham manager in November and he was to face the Blues in just his third game in charge of the Hammers.

Soon-to-be manager Sam Allardyce watched on in the stands as Everton inflicted a 4-0 thumping on the Irons. Wayne Rooney played an instrumental role by scoring a hat-trick, to complete Moyes’ wretched run.

Moyes will be hoping that he can put an end to this poor run of form on Sunday, with this perhaps being his best chance of all to set the record straight.
