Liverpool looking to repeat record against Brighton not achieved in almost a decade:

Liverpool will host Brighton on Sunday afternoon in their final Premier League match of the season, with not only Champions League qualification at stake.

The Reds will be aiming to achieve something the club has not completed in almost a decade.

Should Liverpool avoid defeat against the Seagulls, they will be the only side to not lose a single home match in the entire campaign.  The Reds’ last home loss came at the hands of Crystal Palace, who were 2-1 victors in April 2017.

The last time Liverpool went a whole season without losing at Anfield was the 2008/09 campaign, when they won 12 and drew seven of their 19 home fixtures.

This seasons impressive unbeaten streak is very similar to that of the 2008/09 run. Here is how the two compare:

2008/09:

Home games played: 19

Win: 12

Draw: 7

Loss:  0

Goals scored: 41

Goals conceded: 13

2017/18:

Home games played: 18

Win: 11

Draw: 7

Loss: 0

Goals scored: 41

Goals conceded: 10

Should Liverpool beat Brighton, the two seasons will matchup in terms of possessing the same amount of wins, draws and losses. Going into the final game, the Reds have bagged the same amount of goals they managed in 2008/09 but have conceded three less.
